February 20, 2009; Changes to Medicare's coverage of PET imaging under NOPR.

February 9, 2009; Congress' Medicare advisers will recommend that physicians receive a 1.1% pay increase in 2010 instead of the roughly 21% cut that is currently on tap.

November 3, 2008; The ACR Radiology Coding Source is now accessible to all at no charge. By making this coding advice readily available, it will help reduce inappropriate denials by payers generated from misinformation posted on the Web.

August 20, 2008; UnitedHealthcare updates the Accreditation requirement to 4th Quarter, 2009. Read the UnitedHealtcare 4th Quarter 2009 Release. UnitedHealthcare has indicated that it will continue to promote and encourage the use of accredited imaging facilities to referring physicians and to its members.

July 15, 2008; Congress passes MIPPA, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008. Part of this Law mandates that all advanced imagers (Nuclear Medicine, PET, CT, MR) earn accreditation as a condition for Medicare Reimbursement.

July 2008; The US Department of Veterans Affairs selects the ACR to Accredit all VA Radiation Oncology Facilities.

March 2008; UnitedHealthcare and other Major Insurers have begun requiring Accreditation as a condition of Reimbursement.
